What we collect while hedwi.gg is a waiting list, why, where it is kept and how to leave.
Last updated 28 October 2026.
What we collect for the waiting list
- Your email address. This is the only thing we need.
- If you give them: your name, your field or discipline, and a few words on how you would use hedwi.gg.
- When you agreed to be emailed, and when you confirmed your address.
We do not store your IP address, we do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers, and the site sets no cookies except the one that protects the form against forgery.
To know whether the site is used, our own server counts page visits: which page, when, the website you came from, and a visitor number that changes every day, so we can count visitors without recognising anyone from one day to the next. Nothing leaves our server.
Papers you send us
Once you are on the list, you may send us papers for a first review. We keep the PDF, its title, its original file name and any note you add. Only the two founders read them, to review them and to choose the first debates. We never publish, show or share a paper, or start a public debate on it, without asking you first. Papers are kept on the same server as the list, are never reachable from the web, and are deleted when you delete them from your papers page or leave the list.
Why we keep it
Only to email you when there is a place for you on hedwi.gg, and to understand who is interested so we open in the right fields first. We never show, share or sell your details. The legal basis is your consent, which you give with the checkbox on the form.
Where it is kept
On hedwi.gg's own server in the European Union. Confirmation and invitation emails are sent through Brevo, an email delivery service in the European Union, which receives your address only to deliver them.
How long we keep it
Until hedwi.gg opens and for up to 12 months after, or until you leave the list, whichever comes first. If you do not confirm your address within 30 days, we delete the entry.
Leaving the list and your rights
Every email we send has a link that removes you from the list immediately and deletes what we hold. You can also ask us for a copy of your details, to correct them or to delete them by writing to mail@hedwi.gg. You may also complain to your data protection authority.
When hedwi.gg opens
hedwi.gg is built for open debate, so discussions, claims and versions will be public and readable without an account. Your email address, your credit balance and how sure you were in a hold before it is scored will stay private. Nothing is deleted from a debate's history, but you will be able to export your data and to deactivate your account and hide what you contributed. These commitments will be set out in full, with Terms, before the site opens.
Who is responsible
hedwi.gg is an independent project run by its two founders, who are jointly responsible for your data. Write to mail@hedwi.gg with any question.
